How to verify before you hire
- Call SIPH Environmental Health at (208) 785-2160 (Blackfoot) or (208) 233-9080 (district) and ask whether the company currently holds the permit for the work you need: pumper, basic installer, complex installer, or ETPS service provider.
- Ask the company where they dispose of domestic septage. IDAPA 58.01.03 limits disposal to approved sewers, treatment plants, or DEQ-approved burial, drying, or land application. “I’ll dump it” is not an answer.
- Get a written scope: lids pulled, baffles inspected, sludge/scum measurements, and whether the tank will be left with a few inches of seed sludge (SIPH says a tank should not be pumped completely dry).
- For installers, match basic vs. complex to the system on the permit. Gravity tank-and-field is not the same license problem as an ETPS.
